The tests run in your browser. Your clicks, mouse movement, scrolling and trackpad input are processed on your device to produce test results, and the tests don't send those results to us. Like most sites, we do use analytics and advertising services that collect limited usage data, described below.

We don't offer accounts, newsletters or sign-up forms, and we don't ask for your name, email address or other personal details. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

Through the services below, we and our providers may collect technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device type, screen size, approximate location, pages visited, referring page and how you interact with pages.

If you choose a light or dark theme, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage so it is remembered on your next visit. It stays on your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

We use analytics services to understand how the site is used and to improve it.

• Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to report on traffic, such as pages viewed, session length and country. Learn more in how Google uses data and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use pages, including clicks, taps, scrolling and pointer movement, and may show them as heatmaps and session replays. Because MouseTester is a pointer-testing site, this includes your mouse activity on the page. Clarity masks sensitive input fields, and we don't collect personal details through it. Where the law requires your consent before analytics cookies are used, we ask for it first and these services load only after you agree.

The site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and, where permitted, personalize ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

Where the law requires your consent before cookies are used for advertising, we ask for it before personalized ads are shown.

Like most websites, MouseTester relies on outside services. When your browser requests files from them, they receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page you're viewing:

• Cloudflare Pages hosts the site.
• Google Fonts provides the typeface.
• jsDelivr provides the styling library.
• Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity provide the analytics described above.
• Google AdSense provides the ads described above.

Each handles that information under its own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the opt-outs linked above, or use a browser or extension that blocks trackers. The site still works without them. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you; contact us through the contact page to ask.

The site is intended for general audiences and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
